What Happened

A family group chat reportedly transformed a simple pumpkin-carving invitation into an official committee meeting after autocorrect gave the evening a much more administrative tone.

The original message read, “Pumpkin carving at seven. Bring a spoon.” Autocorrect changed it to “Pumpkin carving at seven. Bring a plan.” A second message asking whether anyone had extra candles became “Please submit candle concerns before noon.” Nobody noticed the changes until three relatives replied with bullet points.

Within an hour, the chat had a chairperson, a temporary secretary, and a proposed agenda. Item one was pumpkin selection. Item two was structural integrity. Item three was whether a pumpkin could be described as “quietly confident” in the official minutes.

One cousin created a poll with four carving categories: friendly face, spooky face, abstract shape, and “let the pumpkin decide.” Another cousin asked for volunteers for the Seed Management Subcommittee. Their grandmother accepted the position and immediately requested a budget for paper towels.
